A recent article from http://www.compareandsave.com/news/last-big-six-gas-and-electric-firm-raises-prices/ carefully discusses the price increase in Gas and Electric firms.
EDF Energy has become the last major gas and electric supplier to announce an increase in its tariffs.
The company's standard electricity prices will increase by 4.5%, while gas prices will rise by 15.4%, with both changes coming into effect on November 10th this year.
In a statement, EDF Energy pointed out that its latest increases are lower than the other major suppliers, and are being introduced at a much later date.
Chief executive Vincent de Rivaz said: "We have absorbed rising wholesale energy, network and other costs as long as possible, but must reluctantly now pass some of these through to consumers."
Mark Todd, director of Energyhelpline.com, said “customers paying quarterly on dual fuel deals will see their annual bills rise by around £120, while those paying monthly by direct debit will experience a £115 increase, on average”.
He also emphasised the importance of taking time to compare gas and electric deals, noting: "Consumers need to keep their eyes open because there are still lots of good deals being offered for those who are willing to switch."
Customers should also remember to check out the tariffs of smaller suppliers, as they may find cheaper deals this way.
